Just Neighbors

Just Neighbors provides immigration legal services to low-income immigrants and refugees of all faiths and nationalities in Northern Virginia. The team of attorneys, staff and committed volunteers offers hope and help as immigrants seek to navigate the current immigration system and access benefits that will enable them to become more contributing members of society.

Through their community outreach efforts and volunteer program, Just
Neighbors
fosters mutual understanding between immigrants and the larger community in which they live and enables them to become contributing members of the community
.

Coronado supports this program through the Endowment Fund of the Missions Committees. To learn more about this ministry, supported by the United Methodist Church, go to www.justneighbors.org.

Guest Preacher:

Rev. Marilyn Beecher, Church and Community Worker, East Central District, Florida Conference

The Rev. Marilyn Beecher, a United Methodist missionary serving as a Church and Community Worker, will be the guest preacher on Sunday, August 22.  She will preach  at both the 9:30 and 11 a.m. services. Her sermon topic is Words and Deeds, based on Matthew 21:28-32.

Ms. Beecher’s responsibilities as a Church and Community Worker involve helping congregations in East Central Florida develop new outreach ministries, with special emphasis on work with children and youth, disaster response, immigrants, and hunger programs.

She says about her work: “If churches are to live up to the call of the Gospel, then they cannot just care for their own members, but they must be engaged with the people around them and be beacons of hope for the community.”

Prior to her current assignment, Ms. Beecher was a Church and Community Worker in Miami, working with three Haitian congregations to develop new outreach and evangelism ministries. She also served as a United Methodist missionary in Bulgaria from 1993 to 1997.
