Congregational Care at Coronado

Congregational Care includes a variety of ministries and groups whose mission is to address the health and wholeness needs of families and individuals in our congregation as they journey through life’s transitions.

·      Visitation

Visitation is a collaborative effort between our clergy and lay teams. The Pastors regularly visit parishioners in local hospitals when we learn of their hospitalization. Because of Federal privacy laws, hospitals are no longer allowed to notify us when parishioners are hospitalized, so we rely on members and friends to let the Church Ministries Office (386-428-6252, ext. 20) know when there is a need.

Monday Morning Messengers gather on Monday mornings to take flowers from the church to parishioners who are hospitalized, shut-in, or reside in care facilities. Please contact Jean Tippy (427-1500) for more information.

Retired Pastors also provide pastoral care on an as-needed basis.

·      Ocean View Ministry

Lay “missioners” and local clergy lead weekly worship with an old-time hymn sing and a devotional Wednesdays at 10 a.m. at Ocean View Nursing Home. Missioners sing, laugh, and pray with residents, expressing God’s love and concern for those facing loneliness and hopelessness. Kay Akins is the Coordinator (423-1252).

·      Prayer Ministry

Prayer cards in the pews provide parishioners with the opportunity to let the Pastors know of unmet spiritual and physical needs.

New prayer concerns are published in the bulletin weekly with the full list of prayer needs available at the church ministries office and on the website.

·      Prayer Shawl Ministry

Care and the love of doing “handiwork” have been combined into a prayerful ministry that reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace, or to those who are celebrating  an event. If you would like to participate or know someone who would appreciate a shawl, please contact Bonnie Bullock, Coordinator (424-9363).

·      Health Ministry

Formerly known as Parish Nurse, the purpose of the Health Ministry Team is to promote physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health within our congregation.  We focus on health and wholeness through education, support, and service.  This includes monthly blood pressure screenings; educational articles in our monthly newsletter; the Health Ministry bulletin board which provides information on support groups, community health-related events,  pamphlets and other materials on specific health topics and community resources.  You do not need to be a health professional to be a member of the health ministry team. All you need is an interest in health and wholeness.  If you are interested in participating, contact Eileen Savell at 386-423-2598 or email tazzee55@hotmail.com.
