Sermon:

Today the church is born. Pentecost was one of the three pilgrimage celebrations for the children of Israel. All who could make their way to Jerusalem would gather and remember the

Festival of Shavuot – the First Fruits of the Temple and the Feast of Weeks – also called Pentecost, the 50 days. The birth of the church echoes the creation of humanity and reverses the consequences of the Tower of Babel. It is a story of recreation and redemption. All unity is restored. Begging us to ask the question today – how is the church today aiming towards unity?
